Cookie Policy
Effective on April 4, 2024
Institutional LPs is committed to operating at the highest level of competency, integrity, respect and honesty. To that end, this policy provides detailed information about how, why and when we use cookies.
1. Introduction
Read this Cookie Policy ("Policy") carefully before using the Platform (described herein). This Policy applies to the Institutional LPs platform ("Platform"), which includes the Institutional LPs website located at www.institutionallps.com and all other Institutional LPs-related products, services, and features that state that they are offered under this Policy.
When you visit, access, or otherwise use the Platform, you agree to this Cookie Policy. If you do not agree to this Policy, you are not authorized to visit, access, or otherwise use the Platform and you should not do so.
2. Does Institutional LPs use cookies?
Yes. As described in the Privacy Policy, we use cookies and other technologies to ensure everyone who uses the Platform has the best possible experience. Also, cookies and other technologies improve security for everyone who uses the Platform. By continuing to visit or use the Platform, you agree to the use of cookies and similar technologies for the purposes described in this Policy.
3. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored in your computer’s memory and hard drive, in your mobile device or tablet when you visit certain web pages. They are used to enable websites to function or to provide information to the owners of a website, or other third parties which receive data obtained from that website.
When you visit any website, it may store or retrieve information on your browser, mostly in the form of cookies. This information might be about you, your preferences or your device and is mostly used to make the site work as you expect it to. The information does not usually directly identify you, but it can give you a more personalized web experience. For example, cookies enable us to identify your type of device and internet browser when you visit the Platform.
4. Where does Institutional LPs use cookies?
We use cookies on the Platform. Any browser visiting the Platform will receive cookies from us.
5. What types of cookies does Institutional LPs use?
We use two types: persistent cookies and session cookies. A persistent cookie helps us recognize you as an existing user. For example, this makes it easier to return to the Platform (or interact with the Platform) without signing in again. After you sign in, a persistent cookie stays in your browser and will be read when you return to the Platform. Session cookies only last for as long as the session. For example, usually the current visit to the Platform or a browser session.
6. What are cookies used for?
Cookies help us to provide customized services and information. For example, we use cookies on the Platform to tell us, in general terms, how and when pages on the Platform are visited, what our users' technology preferences are, and whether the Platform is functioning properly. Depending on their purpose, some cookies will only operate for the length of a single browsing session, whilst others have a longer life span to ensure that they fulfill their longer-term purposes (as explained in this Policy). Please note that, however long the cookies' active life may be, you can delete cookies and therefore stop any further data collection by them (as explained below).
If you are using portions of the Platform that requires signing in using a password or Personal Identification Number (PIN), then we may use cookies or other technology to help us authenticate you, store and recognize your configuration and user attributes, facilitate your navigation of the Platform and customize its content so that the information made available is likely to be of more interest to you.
In general terms, the Platform uses cookies for the following purposes:
•Analytical purposes: Analytical cookies allow us to recognize, measure and track visitors to the Platform and compile a record of this usage information. We may use such cookies as this helps us to improve and develop the way the Platform works, for example, by determining whether Platform visitors can find information easily, or by identifying the aspects the Platform that are of the most interest to them.
•Usage preferences: Some of the cookies on the Platform may be activated when visitors make a choice about their usage of the Platform. For example, the Platform may "remember" the settings preferences of the user concerned. This allows us to tailor aspects of the Platform to the individual user.
•Terms: We may use cookies on the Platform in order to record when a site visitor has seen a policy, such as this one, or provided consent, such as consent to the Terms of Use on the Platform. This helps to improve user experience. For example, it aids in avoiding a situation where a user is asked repeatedly to consent to the same terms. We may also track whether a user has seen other similar documents before – again, to ensure that a user’s experience of the Platform is smooth.
•Session management: The software that runs the Platform may use cookies for technical purposes needed by the internal workings of our servers. For example, we may use cookies to distribute requests among multiple servers, to authenticate users, to determine what features they can access, verify the origin of requests, keep track of information about a user's session, and determine which options or pages to display in order for the Platform to function.
•Functional purposes: Functional purpose cookies store information that is needed by the Platform to process and operate. For example, where transactions or requests involve multiple workflow stages, cookies may be used to store the information from each stage temporarily, in order to facilitate completion of the overall transaction or request.
•Advertising: Advertising cookies may be used to allow us to monitor the behavior of users of the Platform. We may use such cookies to ensure that content, products, services and features are targeted to users in a focused and relevant manner; or to monitor the effectiveness of such targeting. We may also monitor whether the content, products, services and features displayed on the Platform are of interest to users and retain this information to ensure that content, products, services and features seen by users of the Platform over a period of time are appropriate.
•Security: We may use cookies to enable and support our security features, and to help us detect suspicious or malicious activity, as well as violations of the Terms of Use.
Please note that third-parties may use cookies. The kind of cookies and the consequent data processing carried out by such third-parties are regulated by their privacy policies. Please see below for more information about third-party cookies.
7. What is Do Not Track (DNT)?
DNT is a concept that has been promoted by regulatory agencies such as the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC), for the Internet industry to develop and implement a mechanism for allowing Internet users to control the tracking of their online activities across websites by using browser settings.
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has been working with industry groups, Internet browsers, technology companies, and regulators to develop a DNT technology standard. While some progress has been made, it has been slow. As such, the Platform does not generally respond to "do not track" signals.
8. What third-party cookies does Institutional LPs use?
The Platform does not currently use third-party cookies. Please note that this is subject to change over time.
9. Can you control cookies?
Yes. Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings preferences. However, if you limit the ability the Platform to set cookies, you may worsen your overall user experience, since it will no longer be personalized to you. It may also stop you from saving customized settings, such as login access information.
Cookies are necessary in order for you to be able to make full use of the Platform. For example, if you chose to disable cookies, some of the Platform functionality may be impaired.
10. What to do if you don't want cookies set or want them removed?
If you do not want to receive cookies, you can also change your browser settings on your computer or other device you're using to access the Platform. If you use the Platform without changing your browser settings, we'll assume that you're happy to receive all cookies from the Platform. Most browsers also provide functionality that lets you review and erase cookies, including the cookies of the Platform. Please note that the Platform functionality may be impaired without cookies.
